Scholarships


Richard Bradley Scholarship for Young Writers

Dick Bradley, a co-founder of A Rally of Writers in 1987, was a high school teacher and an outdoor writer who published hundreds of columns and articles in newspapers and magazines. In his memory, we have established the Richard Bradley Scholarship for young writers to attend A Rally of Writers.
The scholarship will fund registration and lunch for one winner to attend the Rally conference on April 15, 2023.
Requirements: If you are 22 years old or younger, submit an essay of no more than 200 words that explains your interest in writing and tell us why attending Rally is important to you. Please include your name, age, address, phone, and email.

Deadline: March  31, 2024
The winner will be notified by email.

Linda Peckham Scholarship for Older Learners

Linda Peckham, also co-founder of A Rally of Writers in 1987, spent the majority of her teaching career as a writing instructor at Lansing Community College. Her most popular class was memoir, or “life writing.” Linda served as the President of A Rally of Writers for the first 34 years of its existence. In her honor we have established the Linda Peckham Scholarship for older learners to be able to attend A Rally of Writers.
The scholarship will fund registration and lunch for one winner to attend the Rally conference on April 15, 2023.
Requirements: If you are 30 years or older, submit an essay of no more than 200 words that explains your interest in writing and tell us why attending Rally is important to you. Please include your name, age, address, phone, and email.

Rosalie Petrouskie Scholarship for Poets

Rosalie Petrouskie, started as an A Rally of Writers volunteer, and eventually became Vice President of the Board.  She was a prolific poet, and taught poetry and creative writing at Lansing Community College. Sadly she lost her battle with cancer in 2023, but her spirit and her contributions live on with this scholarship in her name.
The scholarship will fund registration and lunch for one winner to attend the Rally conference on April 13, 2024.
Requirements: If you are an aspiring poet, a published poet, or someone who has always wanted to learn how to write poetry, please submit a poem of no more than 100 words that expresses your poet’s journey and why attending Rally is important to you. Please include your name, age, address, phone, and email.
